BDU are interested in multilayered music history, in the evolution of sound. Who influenced who, who covered who, who remixed who, who citates what. It is not only the morphology of sound itself, but the cultural and political context, either directly expressed or playfully hidden, or even cynically formed. BDU want to reveal this meta-layer.

If "language is a virus from outer space" (William Burroughs), then music is for BDU a dialect from hell...

"Music is prophecy: its styles and economic organisation are ahead of the rest of society because it explores, much faster than material reality can, the entire range of possibilities in a given code. It makes audible the new world that will gradually become visible".                                   Jacques Atalli: Noise (1977)
